Upstate NY Series
This is my Homeland; it is the land my ancestors first settled on. The images come from Lake Ontario shores, the Saint Lawrence River, the Black River, the Whetstone gorge, the Adirondack mountains, and the Tug Hill Plateau.
The amazing topography and the unbelievable beauty of this land filled with lush green forests, limestone foundations, farmlands, wild fields, dolines, fissures, and abundant water ways, offers me such delight and a personal journey stepping on the same land my mother’s cared for leaves me with constant inspiration to draw and paint from.
I used watercolors, natural pigments, minerals, graphite, and ink on various papers to represent my thoughts. This diversity of materials focusing on lines, forms, textures, and values allowed me to express my observations of landforms and the energies surrounding my environment.
